The problem
A gas distributor owns thousands of cylinders that are always somewhere else: at a customer, on a truck, at the filling plant, in a yard. Paper registers answer "where is cylinder 4471" only after a phone call. Rent is charged by the day a cylinder stays out, so a missed return costs money twice.
What it does
- Every cylinder as a record with its own history: fills, deliveries, returns, transfers between locations, with a replay that settles the current state when entries arrive out of order or are backdated.
- Customers and their holdings: which cylinders each customer has right now, for how long, and what rent that adds up to.
- Bills, payments and rental charges, with gap-free numbers per account.
- The daily sales report and the stock summary, computed separately on purpose so one cannot hide a mistake in the other.
- Filling log, purity test certificates and printed documents in the distributor's own business identity.
- Reports and Excel exports, search and pagination that hold up at tens of thousands of records.
How it is built
- One installation, every business an account. Each record carries its account's id and every query filters by it; the discipline is written down and tested, and a client can still be moved to its own database later as a deliberate choice.
- Licence-only sign-up. The vendor issues a licence for an email address, stored only as a hash; a one-time code goes to the vendor, not the client, so no account exists without the vendor knowing. Creating the account, binding the licence and writing its catalog is one transaction.
- Time is handled explicitly. Two production incidents came from timezones; the rules now fix how every date is stored, compared and shown.
- Backups and restore are part of the product, with a restore job that is tested, not assumed.
- A vendor API lets the licensing panel in Brimpa Care manage CylinderPro licences from one place.
